What is a Financial Services Guide?
A Financial Services Guide (FSG) is a compliance document which details the financial services being offered, the associated fees and information on who provides the services. It should also inform you of your rights as a consumer, including the complaints process.
We are transparent with our education, financial planning fees and the way we operate, so if you have spent time on our website you’ll probably know most of the information within our FSG. However, this is not always the case, and as our “What is Financial Planning?” article mentions, sometimes the FSG is the best place for consumers to find out some key bits of information which they may otherwise not be told about. This includes information on fee structures and whether commissions are accepted, and also conflicts of interest which need to be disclosed.
If interested, the ASIC rules to do with FSG’s can be found here. ASIC claim that the FSG should help ensure you receive good quality advice and able to make informed decisions.
In addition to our Financial Services Guide being freely available on our website:
- We shall always provide new clients with a hard copy version at the start of our first meeting.
- We shall always email all clients an updated version if there are ever any changes made.
